    Clarence Kurre
    Clarence Allen Kurre, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 14, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, to August L. and Malinda M. Weiss Kurre. Clarence attended Randol School, Hanover Lutheran School, College High School, and graduated from Steimle Business College.
    He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korean War.
    Clarence was employed by Kimbel Lines, Delta Lines, and ABF 45 years. He was a member of Teamsters Retiree Club and VFW Post 3838. He was active in Boy Scouts more than 20 years. He held various offices, including pack master and Scout master of Troop 8, and was a vigil member of Order of the Arrow.
    Survivors include four children, Patricia (Don) Beard and Judith (Mike) Ringwald of Cape Girardeau, Nancy (Royce) Dyson of Tampa, Florida, and Timothy (Jane) Kurre of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren, Eric Rothe, Ben (Rachel) Rothe, Daniel (Angela) Rothe, Scott (Denae) Ringwald, Amy (Darin) Stageberg, Craig (Beth) Ringwald, Jennifer (Nick) Thrasher, Jason (Charlsie) Beard and Jeff Beard; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Haman Kurre; and a sister, Ruth Edwards.
    Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
    Memorial contributions may be given to the Lutheran Home or Trinity Lutheran Church.

    Dorothy Kurre

    Dorothy Lee Haman Kurre, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

    She was born May 31, 1923, in McBaine, Mo., daughter of John M. and Adella Koehrer Haman. She and Clarence A. Kurre were married March 31, 1946, in Cape Girardeau.

    She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Kurre was a graduate of Trinity Lutheran School, College High School and the Steimle Business College. She had been employed by the Rationing Board during World War II, J.C. Penney and Cape Girardeau Public Schools. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a leader for Brownies, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops. She was very active in the Trinity School parent-teacher league.

    Kurre is survived by her husband; a son, Timothy (Jane) Kurre of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Patricia (Don) Beard and Judith (Mike) Ringwald, both of Cape Girardeau, Nancy (Royce) Dyson of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren

    She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

    Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating.

    Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

    Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund or Saxony Lutheran High School.

    August Kurre, 47 years old, a farmer residing six miles from Cape Girardeau on the Perryville road, died of lymphatic leukemia at 6:15 o’clock Thursday night at Southeast Missouri Hospital. The disease is an infection poisoning the lymphatic glands, and, according to a physician, in this case the poison is believed to have originated from infected tonsils.

    Mr. Kurre had been feeling ill since last November and his tonsils recently gave him considerable trouble. He was removed to the hospital Wednesday for a tonsillectomy, the tonsils having become so swollen that breathing was impaired.

    Funeral Sunday

    The body was removed tot eh Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home and will remain there until funeral services at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Hanover Lutheran Church, Rev. Wm. Wittrock, pastor, will conduct the services and burial will be in Lorimier cemetery.

    Mr. Kurre, a member of a pioneer Cape Girardeau family, was born Jan. 13, 1886, on a farm on the old Cape Girardeau-Jackson road, two miles west of this city. He spent his entire life in this community and was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church.

    Besides a widow, who was formerly Miss Linda Weiss, Mr. Kurre is survived by a son, Clarence, and a daughter, Miss Ruth, who are at home. Two surviving brothers are Fred, who resides west of the city, and Ed, who lives here. Surviving sisters are Mrs. A. C. Masters, Mrs. Henry Armgardt, and Mrs. E. E. Weiss, Cape Girardeau.

    Mrs. Melinda Kurre, 73 years old, 1865 Broadway, died this morning in a Cape Girardeau hospital after an illness of six months.
    The body Is at Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 tonight. Services will be held at 2.30 Sunday afternoon in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, to which Mrs. Kurre belonged. The Rev. Victor Grimm will offic iate and burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

    Living here since April, 1942. Mrs Kurre belonged to St. Andrew's Women's Guild, Lois Circle and the adult Bible class.
    She was married April 9, 1916. to August L. Kurre, who died June 8, 1933. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Weiss. Mrs. Kurre was born Dec. 18, 1890, in the Hanover community.

    Survivors are a son, Clarence Kurre, and a daughter. Mrs. Ruth Edwards, both of Cape Girardeau, and six grandchildren.
