OBITUARY
Mrs. Clema Foster Lewis was born in Piedmont, September 5, 1919; and entered into her rest at her home in Des Arc on July 7, 1940, at the age of twenty years, ten months, and two days.

Early in life she suffered the loss of her parents and lived for a number of years with her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Green Brooks.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Wellman Lewis, December 9, 1937. To this union were born two children; Norma Elaine, and Wellman Wayne.

She leaves to mourn her departure a devoted husband, two children, four sisters, three brothers, her foster parents, and the parents of her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Zell Lewis, to whom she seemed as an own daughter. Besides these, there are 41 host of near and distant relatives together with a community of friends to whom she was most essential.

The first interest in the life of Clema Lewis was her husband, her family and her home. She was a splendid mother and sacrificing wife.

May the strong comforting arm of a loving Heavenly Father, soothe and sustain those to whom her going has been such a blow. As the rose is picked in its bud for its beauty, so has this life ended early, just as it was breaking forth in full blossom.

The funeral services were held in the Church of the Nazarene, Des Arc, with Rev. S. N. Whitcanack, Pastor, in charge.

!OBITUARY
Zell Washington Lewis, son of James and Lucinda Lewis, was born in Des Arc, NO. on Nov. 13, 1878 and died at his home in Des Arc, No. on July 18, 1958 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 5 days.

On March 10, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Ann Stevenson and to this union four children were born.

In 1948 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Lucille Gibson.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Lucille Gibson Lewis of Des Arc, No., 4 children, Mrs. Blanche Semands of Des Arc, No., Everett of
Whittier, Calif., Chester of Englewood, Calif., and Wellman of Yucca Valley, Calif.

He also leaves 8 stepchildren, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Eli, of McRae, Ark., Toney, of Clinton, Ark. and Fred of Yakima, Wash.

In 1905 he professed his faith in Christ and in 1919 united with the Des Arc Nazarene Church and for the last 5 years has been Sunday School Supt.

He spent his entire life in the Des Arc Community as a respected and useful citizen and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved his.

Services were from the Des Arc Gymnasium at 2:30, July 21, Rev. Everett Lewis in charge. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery with Gish Funeral Service. (THE MOUNTAIN ECHO newspaper... Ironton, Iron County, NO... July 31, 1958)

1880 CENSUS ...Union Township, Iron County, Missouri ...James Lewis (age 33) and both his parents were born in Tennessee. He is a laborer who could not read or write. His wife, Lucinda (age 29) and both her parents were born in Missouri. Lucinda's occupation is keeping house. Lucinda and James Lewis' four sons were all born in Missouri: Napolon (7), Andrew (5), Edward B. (3) and Washington (age 1).

James Lewis, age 72, died at the home of his son, N. A., Saturday night after an illness of about a year. Last winter he had the smallpox from which he never fully recovered. However, it was only within the past two weeks he had become bedfast. The remains were shipped to Des Arc, MO for burial, that place being the deceased's former home. The corpse was accompanied by his wife and his sons, Drew, Ed, and Toney. Mr. Lewis was county judge at Des Arc for a term or two, and he has hosts of friends residing at that place. Mr. Lewis had been married twice. In 1871 he was married to Miss Lucinda Wallace. To them were born 9 children, 8 of whom are living. She died in 1908. In 1911 he was married to Mrs. Anna Williams, his present wife. Mr. Lewis came to this place from Des Arc in 1914 and had been a resident ever since. He was counted among our citizens.
