    Levi Ashbrook was the son of Aaron Ashbrook and Hannah Ward Cook. He is buried in the Ashbrook Plains Burying Ground, Romney, Hampshire Co, VA (now West Virginia). Levi last lived in what is now Berkeley Co, WV. He was married (1st) to Mary Pentecost. It is believed that she is buried in Romney, WV. He was married (2nd) to Mary Chenoweth who was the first known daughter and seventh child of John and Mary Smith Chenoweth. She married at the age of 20, Levi Ashbrook, ten years her senior. Levi, a preacher and Justice of the Peace, was a widower with three or four children. He would later serve in the Revolutionary War. Together he and Mary would produce 12 more children, all probably born in Hampshire County. This next generation would extend the Ashbrook-Chenoweth ties. Mary's stepson, Levi, and two of her own sons, John and Absolum, married Chenoweth daughters of Mary's brother, John Chenoweth and probably his second wife Eleanor Parke. These latter two of were first cousin marriages. Another four Ash

    Aaron Ashbrook, son of "Antelope John" Ashbrook by his first wife, inherited some land from the estate in 1730. He remained in New Jersey until about 1745 and then moved to Frederick County (later Hampshire County), Virginia. He had 400 acres on the Great Caca
    pon River when he died in 1751. Aaron Ashbrook had three daughters and five sons. One of his sons worked with an eighteen-year-old George Washington in 1750 as a chainman while Washington surveyed part of Hampshire County. Another of Aaron's sons provided supplies to the Virginia Militia headed by George Washington during the French and Indian War.
