| 1102 | Birth: Oct. 13, 1906Cape Girardeau CountyMissouri, USA Death: Mar. 21, 1935Cape Girardeau CountyMissouri, USA MO death certificate 8322accidental drowningThe Southeast MissourianMarch 22 1935Joseph Benjamin Tucker, 28 years old, was drowned in Hubble Creek just below the southern limits of Jackson, at 6:30 o'clock Thursday night. He and Albert Crader and the latter's young son, Milford, had gone down the west branch of Hubble Creek for a few hous sport, had become separated as they fished along the creek, and could not see "Joe Ben" as he was familiarly known to his friends, when they heard a splash as if a body had dropped into the water.Crader and his son ran to the place where they had heard the noise, and the elder Crader told his son to run to the nearby T.C. Eugas home for help while he waded in and located the body in rather shallow water, less than 2 feetdeep, and carried it out. Help came, a doctor was called, but all efforts of resuscitation were futile.Coroner J.A. Moore was called and the body was removed to the Cracraft & Miller undertaking establishment. The coroner, after hearing the testimony of the Craders', held no inquest, as he had been told that the deceased was subject to epileptic attacks and the attending physician testified that the drowning was accidental. It was assumed that Tucker had been seized with an attack and fell into the stream.Joe Ben Tucker was born west of Jackson and lived in this community all his life, doing all kinds of labor, and recently employed in fodder processing for the government. He is survived by his widow, who was Anna Trickey of Pocahontas before her marriageand to whom he was married on Oct. 13, 1928, one son, Billy Lewis, his father, John Tucker of Hill City, Idaho, his mother, Mrs. E.E. Tucker of near Cane Creek School, and four sisters, Mrs. Bern Howard of near Jackson, Mrs. Greer Slinkard of Poplar Bluff, Mrs. R. C.
