1619 DEATH OF ARNOLD BREMMERMANN.
------------------
One of Butler’s Best and Most Honorable Citizens Gone to Rest.
------------------
On last Sabbath the 18th the mortal remains of Arnold Bremmerman were interred in the Butler Cemetery. Mr. Bremmermann was a native of Germany; he was a man of more than ordinary intellectual ability. He was at the time of his death not quite 34 years old.

He first came to Bates county about 13 years ago, and was for some time employed as a clerk in dry goods store in Butler. Afterward he was engaged as traveling salesman for a wholesale firm in St. Louis,

Returning to Butler some 10 years ago, he has since that time been employed as deputy in several of the county offices, he was also a clerk in the Bates county National Bank. More recently he was a partner with P. J. Jewett, in the furniture business. A few months ago finding his health failing, he disposed of his interest in the furniture store to his partner in hope that rest and recreation would bring him renewed vigor, but alas, that fell destroyer Consumption had lain hold of him and on Friday March 16 1883 at 10 o’clock A. M. he calmly and peacefully sank to rest. Deceased was an active and worthy member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

The citizens of Butler and community manifested their appreciation of his worth in one of the largest funeral processions that was ever seen in the city. The hearse was preceded to the cemetery by over one hundred and twenty members of the Order of Odd Fellows in regalia, with emblems draped in mourning, headed by the Butler Silver Cornet Band.

The hearse was followed by one-hundred and fifteen vehicles bearing relatives, friends and acquaintances besides a large number on foot. On the way and at the grave the band played very appropriate and solemn dires.

At the grave the beautiful and impressive funeral service of the Order of Odd Fellows was read by Judge Lefker, acting chaplin. Deceased leaves a wife and one child to mourn his loss.

1622 Death visited the home of Solomon Franklin King near Brunot on Mill Creek in Madison County, Missouri, Sept 29, 1917 at 9 o'clock where he had lived for 65 years. Uncle Saul was born at Memphis, TN. Apr 4, 1829, and came to Missouri, locating at Current River when but a boy where he lived but a year, moving from there to Madison County, where he has lived ever since. Solomon King and Permelia Isabelle Ross were united in marriage on 20 Mar 1853. They came to their present home on Apr 7, 1853. The came with one horse and their posessions slung to a pack saddle. To this marriage were born 6 children, of which 4 survive him. 2 sons: Earl and Henry, and two daughters;Melvina and Nancy Young from near Fredericktown, MO.: 29 grandchildren: 21 great grandchildren. We are all pleased that God spared Uncle Saul to see so many generations in his family, a blessing not given to many.
Uncle Saul endured hardships in his early married life that would make the young men of today very much discouraged. Uncle Saul shouldered his axe many, many times and walked from his home to Ironton, MO.,where he cut cordwood for 30 cents a cord in order to buy necessary food for himself and his loved ones at home who now survive him. Uncle Saul has been a man of great endurance and always believed in a square deal to all men and practiced his belief with all men whom he came in contact with.
Uncle Saul has been almost helpless for about 3 years and his wife bedfast for the last 2 years. Their daughter Melvina, has cared for them throughout their illnesses and she is truly worthy of great commendation. Uncle Saul was the oldest citizen of Madison County and was loved by all who knew him. He was always the man that would lose five dollars than to take one from any man. On Sunday morning Sept 30th 1917, over 300 people came to the home of Uncle Saul to pay their last respects to the memory of their friend and neighbor.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev J L Brooks of Brunot, interment was in the Brewington Cemetery.

The death of Mrs.Eliza Hill, wife of H.W.Hill, occurred on Sunday morning at 8:30 oclock at the family residence on Pine street. It was not unexpected. Mrs. Hill has been ill since the first of March and during the past week or more her condition has been critical and the final dissolution was looked for at any time. Death was the result of old age and general debility.

Mrs.Hill was a native of Rowan county,N. Carolina where she was born on March 20, 1819. She was the daughter of James and Jane Stevenson and with her parents moved to Cape Giradeau county, Missouri when only seven months old. While a resident of that county she was married in 1843 to Hugh W. Hill.

Mrs. and Mrs. Hill left Cape Girardeau county in 1860 and settled in Montgomery county where they resided until 1866 when they came to Macon county. They first lived on W. William street, but later built the beautiful home at the end of Prairie Ave. on Pine street and have since made their home there.

Of the six children born to them only one is living, John N. Hill of Macon, who has been constantly at his mothers bedside with his aged father for several days past. Besides her husband Mrs. Hill is survived by nine grandchildren five children of John N. Hill, who resides with their parents near Macon and Hugh, Gussie and Emma Bone and Mrs. L. A. Mills all of this city.

Mrs. Hill has been a member of the Presbyterian church since girlhood. Her life has been one of devotion to her husband and family. One by one with the exception of a son she has suffered the loss of her own children and the love she so richly bestowed on them was transferred to her granchldren, to whom she has been more than a grandmother. Her simple life of devotion to the best that there is in womanhood and motherhood, her gentle generous neighborly interest in the welfare of her friends have earned for her not only the respect but the love and esteem of all with whom she came in contact. She has left to her family and friends the priceless heritage of a life well lived.

The funeral services will be held at 3 oclock this afternoon from the residence, 212 N. Pine street and the services will be conducted by Revs. W.H.Prestley and W.H. Penhallegon. The casket will be open from 10 am until 12 noon for the friends of the family wishing to view the remains.

Dessie was National Democratic Committeewoman and New Mexico's best known political figure for years, but she was first a rancher. She and her husband U.D. moved onto their ranch in 1928. With sheer determination and hard work, they paid off the mortage on the ranch while the country struggled through the Depression. Dessie's work in community activities and public affairs led her into the national political arena because, as Dessie put it, "that's where the fun is.

1694 DNA has shown that John E Tucker is the father of Hettie and Kizzie. Family descendants believe he raped Nancy and fathered the two girls. Kizzie was born while she was married to Munceford Underwood. Both girls assumed Munceford's last name.

In April 1893 , Munceford was sentenced to prison 5 years for 2nd degree manslaughter. His sentence commuted to the Asylum in Fulton, MO by the Governor. He escaped from the Asylum, moved to Amarillo, Texas and changed his name to Charles Henry Smith. He married Sarah D. Evelyn Vermillion 23 Dec 1894. They had 5 sons and 2 daughters. He was a farmer near Amarillo.

From Gloria Jean Griffitts:

So who are the parents of Kizzie and Hettie, according to DNA? John E Tucker ( 1968-1934) and Nancy A (Sisk) Underwood (1873-1921) per history first then confirmed by DNA a number of years ago.

What was Munceford in jail for in January 1893? Nine months prior to Kizzie's birth? The murder he was arrested for did not occur until March 1893. I was thinking of the spring time when all the mess occurred and not looking at records so I should have stated, Munson/Munceford was most likely incarnated at the time of Kizzie’s conception, which may or may not be factual. If it is valid it would have been late Feb not Jan, I believe was what I was thinking but again only a thought.

Why would Kizzie Bone’s DC list her parents as Munceford Underwood and Nancy Sisk? Let me explain a bit about this. My great uncle was a rapist. He raped and impregnated Nancy in mention and she had three children by him, next is Evaline Sisk who bore two of his children,. John also raped my grandmother and she had one child and her sister who bore one child. Seven children in total that we know of now. Much of this was hidden due to shame and was not confirmed until the inception of DNA, in fact there was no other way to confirm these stories until that time.

Many of the girls in the family were sent away early with other family members to keep them safe from him [John]. My mother was one of them.

Some of these children had no clue what had happened until much later in life. Some died never knowing who there father was, like Hettie (Sisk) Moss.

I was told the story first, by my aunt, when I was about 18 yrs old and when I was a bit older I started talking with family about all of this and was told about the “Curse of the red hair”! Each of these lineages of the rapes had at least one child or grandchild with red hair as John E Tucker had vivid red hair and I found it to be completely true and lives on today.

Why was John E Tucker not stopped or arrested is the big question. All we can think of is women in general had very few rights and in some case were no more than common property thus were used as so, as sad as that was.

Floyd was Nancy’s third and we think last child. He had his father's vivid red hair.

Hilda never had any children that any of us know of.

I have many records for these people but many are very oversized ledgers pages and are not the best quality for reprints and home scanning. If you need to documented proof I suggest you contact of visit Missouri State Archives in Jefferson City, Mo and they can provide the needed data for a very nominal fee or email them and they will scan data as well for a small fee.
