Growing up in the Heights, Sandra attended Cooley Elementary, Hamilton Junior High and Reagan High Schools. Sandra graduated from Sam Houston State University with Bachelor degrees in English and Education, and a Masters degree in Instruction and Administration. Sandra loved teaching and children. Miss Satterwhite had a very successful career in Houston ISD. She taught third and fifth grades at Oak Forest Elementary for twelve years. She also served Houston ISD as an Instruction Development Supervisor, Principal of Millie E. Durham Elementary School and Principal of Windsor Village Elementary School. She retired from HISD working as a Principal in the Office of the Superintendent. Sandra had an amazing number of friends and among these was a group of ladies called "Fun- Fun". This group of friends worked together at Oak Forest Elementary and have met once a month for over 35 years. She loved working in he She is preceded in death by her parents Allen and Willie Sue Satterwhite and her brother Thomas Satterwhite, Jr.. Sandra is survived by her sisters Nancy Perryman of Waco and Frances Buckner of Magnolia. She has numerous nieces and nephews and volumes of friends. The family wishes to acknowledge the care and concern given Sandra by our dear friend Marcy Cann during Sandra's years of illness. "A friend loveth at all times." Sandra touched the lives of many and she will be sorely missed. The funeral service was held at Baptist Temple in Houston on Saturday, March 15, 2008. After practicing speech pathology, she realized her dream of studying art and received her certificate from the Glassell School of Art and continued her study in Paris, New York and Mexico. Her art has been greatly influenced by her love of nature and she has been a volunteer at the Armand Bayou Nature Center for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Brown Watters, Jr. She is survived by her mother, Florence Eugenia McCown; daughters, Amber Lynn Watters, Angela Jean Watters; brothers, James Ross McCown, Steven R. McCown, wife Tara & their children, Patrick, Andrea, & Michael; sister-in-law, Penny Watters Dossman & husband Edwin & their children,Edwin, Corrie & Lee. | 6308 | Sarah Elizabeth Knight, of Kansas City, Missouri, born on October 17, 1942 passed on July 2, 2021. Sarah was a beloved sister, aunt & great aunt who adored her great niece & nephew’s. Sarah was the daughter of the late Benjamin Owen Knight, Sr and Inez Mildred Knight. In her early years, Sarah grew up on a farm in north Kansas City. She road horses, participated in 4H and frequently left school early to spend time with her father on the farm. Sarah graduated high school from Barstow in 1960 and then attended William Jewel. She was a debutante in the Jewel Ball in 1961. She graduated from the University of Missouri (1964) with a teaching degree and then obtained her masters. Sarah was a Tri Delta. Sarah worked as a Special Education teacher for 25 years with the Shawnee Mission School District and North Kansas City. She started the Special Education program at Shawnee Mission North. After teaching, Sarah became an estate sale guru, managing/working/overseeing estate sales across the metro. Sarah was the first woman elected to the KC Ski Club Board. She ran ski trips for 16 years, as well as, organized many ski club tennis tournaments. Sarah had belonged since 1965 to the Friends of Art, an auxiliary of the Nelson-Atkins Museum. She was a member of the Friends of the Art Board for 6 years. Sarah truly enjoyed America Royal activities. She was a member of BOTAR (1965) and the American Royal Ambassadors. For three and half years, she arranged art shows every three months at the America Royal Museum. Sarah was active for five years in the Cardiac Auximmary of Children’s Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Vanderslice, Sketchbox and Warwick Society of the Kansas City Art Institute. Sarah was a member of the Barstow Alumni Board and the Diplomat’s Board. Sarah’s big joy in life were her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, hosting dinner parties, visiting art museums, attending musicals and plays, wine tastings, treating others to meals, traveling and playing tennis and golf. Service A Celebration of Life will be held on August 21st at 5:30 pm at Johnny Cascone’s located at 6863 W 91st St Overland Park, KS 66212. As many of you know, Sarah loved telling stories about her friends/family. She was survived by her brother Benjamin Owen Knight, Jr, nieces & nephew, Anastasia Knight Oldham (Brian D. He was born March 9, 1932, at Lesterville, son of Guy R. and Bobbye B. Adams McHenry. He and Ruth Margaret Jones were married June 2, 1956. McHenry was a 1950 graduate of South Iron High School, and 1957 graduate of Memphis State University. He was collecter in Iron County from 1974-94. He was a Democratic delegate at the 1974 Presidential Election. McHenry was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as elder, member of Presbyterian Home for Children Board, Arcadia Valley Hospital and Medical Center Board, A.V. Country Club, Disabled American Veterans, and charter member of Arcadia Valley Elks. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sara Yates of Ironton, Amy McHenry of Farmington; his mother of Ironton; two sisters, Hallie Pautler of Perryville, Marian Loyd of Affton; a brother, Roger McHenry of Hogan, and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends may call at Bryson Funeral Home in Pilot Knob after 5 p.m. today. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Ironton, with the Revs. Lori Danielson and Jim McClymont officiating.
