- Notes for CARL WILHELM FERDINAND KAEMPFER:
Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand Kaempfer ( Kampfe or Kaempe ) was born February 26 , 1813 in Oeschenback , Bern , Switzerland ( ? ) . He married Johanna Marie Sophia Henriette Allers on November 30 , 1851 in Hanover Luthern Church , Randol Twp . , Cape Girardeau Co., MO . She was born October 23 , 1829 in Bockenem , Hanover , Germany . Carl died in 1864 , Common Pleas Court - Estate Settlement : October 25 , 1864 . Need to find the date of death and the place of burial for Carl . There was one son that I knowof , Charles William ( Carl Wilhelm ) Kaempfer . I'm not sure if Johanna is his mother , as I was told he was born on board the ship coming over from Germany , his birth date is either June 30 or July 1 , 1850 . It's possible that Johanna was a second marriage for Carl W. F . Kaempfer . She remarried , Wilhelm Theuerkauf , October 19 , 1869 in the same church she was married in the first time . He was the widower of her sister & was a baker in Cape . There were children by his first marriage , but I'm not sure if they had any children together . Johanna died March 19 , 1887 in Cape and was buried in the Old Lorimer Cemetery next to her second husband . Need to get copies of both mariage licenses and any death information I can find . There isn't much due to the fact that the County Courthouse burned twice , once in 1870 & again in 1900 . Need to check the Census from 1850 - 1880 for Cape County ( for both Kaempfer & Theuerkauf ) . Check the property tax records , land deeds & any other records that still exist . Have found both of their names " Americanized " to Charles William Kaempfer & Mary Sopphia Allers.
Children of Carl Wilhelm & Johanna Marie Sophia:
Carl Wilhelm ( Charles William ) Kaempfer was born 1 July 1850 on board ship enroute to America. He married Louisa Mathilda Morlock on 18 April 1875 in Cairo, Alexander Co., IL. He died 23 April 1911 in Pascola, Pemiscot Co., MO. He is buried in Pascola as far as I know. Need to check this out.
Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Kaempfer was born 15 October 1854 & was Baptized 17 May 1855 in Cape Girardeau, MO. His Sponsors were: Wilhelm Kampfer; Wilhelm Hunters; Wilhelm Theuerkauf; & Heinrich Allers. He was listed listed as being the legitimate son of Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand Kaempfer & Johanna Maria Sophia Henriette Allers. He was baptized in Jackson, Cape Girardeau Co., MO by Pastor Fredrich Wilhelm Umbeck.
