- Ruth (Lewis) Harris Ricketts passed away on June 8, 2016 in Ironton, Missouri at the age of 93 years. She was born in Des Arc, Missouri on April 6, 1923 to Eli and Rella Mae (Robinson) Lewis. On October 17, 1942 Ruth was united in marriage to Ray C. Harris who preceded her in death. To this union two daughters were born: Donna Rae and husband Bill Womble of Ironton, Missouri and Dottie Sue and husband Dean Goodman of Saint Louis, Missouri.
On December 24, 1976 Ruth was united in marriage to Joel Ricketts who also preceded her in death.
Ruth is survived by a brother John Lewis of Ironton, Missouri, three grandchildren: Tim Womble, Craig Womble, and Derek Goodman; three great-grandchildren Claire Goodman, Tyler Womble, and Chase Goodman as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Ruth is preceded in death by husbands Ray Harris and Joel Ricketts, brothers Cliff, Glide, Claude, Vernon, Clell, Phineas, and Elvis Lewis.
After graduating high school, Ruth attended Chillicothe Business College. In 1957 Ruth went to work for Cleo West, Iron County Clerk. After Cleo's passing in 1962, Ruth was given a Gubernatorial Appointment to the Office of Iron County Clerk to fill the unexpired term of Mr. West. Ruth went on to serve as Iron County Clerk for six more terms, totaling over 24 years. Ruth was a member of the Arcadia Valley United Methodist Church.
