- It is believed that the 2nd generation of the family was also a Michael, with no records on which to base this statement we must use logic. Based on research of documents it is logical to believe that the first Michael could have been part of Captain John Smith and Thomas Graves’ Jamestown Colony in 1608/9/10. Normally there are at least three or four generations of descendants in a century and since we have no birth dates for Michael or the next Michael, we have to backward extrapolate from a known Satterwhite’s birth year. That known year is 1686 from a baptismal record in Abingdon Parish Colonial Virginia. The parents were 3rd gen: Thomas b. abt. 1666 and Ann Satterwhite. Their first son, Michael was baptized, 26 Dec 1686, so the parents were probably born circa 1666 and Thomas was logically the son of 2nd gen: Michael Satterwhite. A study of family records and government documents reveals that 2nd gen: Michael had three sons: 3rd gen: John Satterwhite b. abt. 1668, he m. (1) Frances ? m. (2) Martha Page — and 3rd gen: Charles Satterwhite b. ? (Quit rent roll King William Co. about 1704) —no more information on Charles as of this date—They were brothers of: Thomas Satterwhite b. abt. 1666 m. Ann ?
