- Find A Grave:
Solomon was the son of Samuel E. and Anna Margaret (Workman) Hake. He was the grandson of Christian and Barbara Hake.
He married Mary Margaret Carver in Missouri in 1873. They had six children:
Effie Mae (David Ferdinand Allison)
Margaret Miranda (John Lee Jackson, Jr.)
Edward D. Hakes (Nora "Effie" Lewis)
Anvil Kenider (Mary Mae "Maud" Lewis)
Arnold Jackson "Jack" (Cora Ellen Murphy)
Samuel Joseph (1 Hattie Bowles, 2 Myrtle Elizabeth Francher)
According to Solomon's great granddaughter Lean Schrader, "He died from a fever contracted in "The Big Swamp" in southern Missouri. Mary drove him to Gladden Valley, MO where his sister Mint lived. They came by a wagon drawn by oxen and when the oxen were unruly his voice would get them in order for Mary to handle. No one knows where he is buried."
