- Gilbert Huens Goff, 82, of Faber, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law.
Born May 12, 1927, in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Dabney Goff and Julia Phillips Goff.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Purvis Goff, his five sisters, Bertha Weeks, Louise Mawyer, Margaret Pace, Amanda Phillips and Mattie Thompson and his four brothers Melvin, Dillard, Howard and Calvin Goff.
He was a retired merchant, worked at the Schuyler Soap Stone Quarry for many years, was a self-employed timber man and logger and most of all a very witty and admired individual in the Faber community.
Mr. Goff is survived by his only son, Larry Goff, and his wife, Pam, of Faber; his grandchildren, Tanner and Lauren Goff of Faber and Tiffany Savage and her husband, Brandon, of Buckingham; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Savage, of Buckingham; and a special loving niece, Linda Beverly.
In keeping with Gilbert's wishes, a simple graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church Cemetery.
