Phyllis Ann Murphy, 81, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in St. Mary Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount
Vernon. Phyllis was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Mount Murphy Vernon, the daughter of Isabel and Joseph W. Gaunt Sr.
Phyllis was first married to Thomas Edward Regenhardt on June 3, 1944 [Corrected from obit in newspaper]. She later married Norman G. Murphy in Mount Vernon; he survives.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her mother, Isabel Gaunt of Mount Vernon; two daugh-
ters, Janet Regenhardt Thaxton and husband, Ralph, of Wayland, Mass., and Jo Ann Regenhardt Puntney and
husband, Eric, of Mount Vernon; stepson, Rod Murphy and wife, Diane, of Bolingbrook; stepdaughter, Kay
Murphy of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Scott Thaxton and wife, Lisa, of Stow, Mass., Jessica Thaxton
of Providence, R.I., Jeffrey Puntney and wife, Sheela, of Fall City, Wash., and Brian Puntney and wife, Tracy, of
Marshall, Wis.; and two stepgrandsons, Sean Murphy and Michael Murphy both of Bolingbrook. Phyllis also had eight great -grandchildren who were very special to her, Madison, Corey, Brady and Haley Rose Thaxton, Elle Puntney and Haley McColgan and Samantha and Cassandra Puntney. Phyllis was also survived by one nephew and three nieces, Jody Gaunt and wife, Deb, of Park Forest and Karin Bruce and husband, Charlie, Judy Haynes and husband, Bert, and Julie Moore, all of Mount Vernon.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Joseph W. Gaunt Sr.; her first husband, Thomas Edward Regenhardt; her brother, Joseph W. Gaunt Jr. and his wife, Dorothy; and great-nephew, Jake Longley.
Phyllis was affectionately called Phib by her grandchildren. She loved people and had many special friends from over the years.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 in Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with Mike
Sheets officiating. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be from
5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb.11, 2010, at the funeral home.
