Anne Chase believes this James is son of David McNeely of Rowan County. David has a James. John does not mention James in will, however that does noteliminate the possibility of James being his son. 1778 tax list of Rowan does not include James hence was not 18 years old. 1787 tax list does include James age 26 would be born 1761.
- The late Betty Mills (Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society) thinks James married 2 times, Elizabeth 2 wife, probably correct if age is correct tax list of I787 includes male 3 and female 26)
