- JOHN WILLIAM HICKMAN
Thursday - January 25, 1951
John William Hickman, son of John "Wesley" and Louisa (Stokely) Hickman, born near the Woods School, known as the Virginia Settlement at Patterson, MO., on the 3rd day of October 1873; died the 20th of January 1951, at age 77 years 3 months, and 17 days. He married (1) in 1895, (actually 1st Nov 1894) Mary Magdalene Alley, (b. 4, Oct 1874; d. 3, Mar 1904) a d/o Albert & Tabitha Ann "Blythe" (Wakefield)Alley, and four children were born. Lester Virginia; Lola Octavia; Fred Leroy and Orla Mary Hickman.
{He m.(2) Verta Coley, and they had one dau. Vera Hickman, b. 01 Sep 1923 & d. 11 Jun 1933, Vera is buried next to her father in the Linville-Barrett Cemetery}.
In 1949 he was married to (3) Mrs. Sarah Ann Stokely. He is survived by his wife, Sarah and 5 daus: Mrs Lester SEITZ, of Piedmont; Mrs Lola HINKLE, of Flat River; Mrs Orla BARRETT, of St Louis; Mrs Jewel HODGE, Poplar Bluff; Mrs Ruby HOLDEN, of St Louis and 11 step-children. A son, Fred Hickman & a dau., Vera, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Coldwater Methodist Church, services held there and burial was in the Linville Cemetery.
