- Hettie's mother Nancy changed her last name back to her maiden name Sisk and well as the last names of her daughters after her husband/their father left them. He was sentenced to prison 5 years for 2nd degree manslaughter. His sentence commuted to the Asylum in Fulton, MO by the Governor. He escaped from the Asylum, moved to Amarillo, Texas and changed his name to Charles Henry Smith. He married Sarah D. Evelyn Vermillion 23 Dec 1894. They had 5 sons and 2 daughters. He was a farmer near Amarillo.
