- John Peter’s intentions were to migrate to the American colonies. He and his family left The Canton of Zurich, Switzerland in 1742. He met with an accident and died. His family then returned with the body to Glatfelden, his home town.
Later his family accompanied his brother and his family the following year, landing at the Port of Philadelphia, on the ship Francis and Elizabeth, August 30, 1743, carrying out his wishes. They settled in York County, Pennsylvania.
