- Benton - Wayne Diamond, 82 years old, of Benton died Tuesday at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born July 31, 1915, in Pocahontas, Ark., the son of Mont Gobel and Tina Ellen Grisham Diamond. He and Oma Zena Hopkins were married Apr. 3, 1937, at Benton. She died Oct. 26, 1992.
Mr. Diamond retired as a supervisor with the Scott County Highway Department. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church, Morley Masonic Lodge #184, and Morley Eastern Star Chapter #340. He had lived in Benton since 1923.
Survivors include a son, Larry Diamond; two daughters, Norma Kidd and Fern Schreckenberg; three sisters, Letha Spencer, Ethel Cannon and Stella West; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be held Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Burial will be in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery near Benton.
