James Ruble was born December 30, 1847. His parents were Henry and Malinda (Skiles) Ruble. Henry and Nalinda raised their family in Vulcan, Iron County, Missouri. James Ruble was first married to Mary Elizabeth 'Polly' Stevenson. At the time of the 1800 census James and Polly were living at Iron County, Missouri next to Polly's older brother, Frank Stevenson, with no children.
James Ruble later married Polly Lewis Stevenson (Frank Stevenson's widow) on September 26, 1886 at Iron County, Missouri. She had two children from her marriage to Frank: Martha and Harp Stevenson. James and Polly Lewis Stevenson were the parents of: Maude, James Jack, May and Halter Ruble.
