- David McNeely
David arrived in Rowan County, North Carolina by 1768. He is on the Rowan County Tax List for that year.
We assume he migrated from Pennsylvannia. He owned land adjacent to Archibald McNeely and John McNeely Sr. in the 1770’s. The naming of his children indicate a relation with an Adam, perhaps of Lancaster County, PA. We have found no documentation prior to North Carolina although a Matthew of Bucks County had a son David. - source "McNeelys of Northwest Missouri" by Maurice McNeely
David’s will recorded in Book E page 77 of Rowan County, probated 1805. Abstract as listed by Linn:
E:77 David McNeeely, 14 May 1801, probated 1805. Sons Adam, John and Timothy each to have 2 pounds, Timothy being under age. Son James to have home plantation. 2 pounds each to daughters Margaret and Agnes. Daughter Jean to have personalty incl. red chest and all the pewter and 12 pounds. Executors: son-in-law John McNeely, son James. Wit: James Bell, Samuel McNeely.
