Janice Lewis Cook 1924 ~ 2009 Janice Lewis Cook, 85, mother of three (3) children: Suzanne Beck, Charles Huffaker and Rob Huffaker, passed away on Sunday morning, June 7, 2009 at Elks Meadow Assisted Living, in Oakley, Utah from complications of congestive heart failure.
Janice was born in Annapolis, Missouri on December 16, 1924 to Della Williams and James Edward Lewis of Annapolis, Missouri. She was one of 10 children, with one surviving sister, Ann Lewis Lucy.
Her husband of 35 years, Donald S. Cook, preceded her in death on June 16, 2002. She has 15 grandchildren, three of whom (Kimberly, Gabriel and KC), preceded her in death and has 15 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the LDS Church and lived much of her life in Woodruff, Utah. She loved gardening and being in the out-of-doors and traveling with their fifth wheel. She was an excellent cook, and loved to serve all who visited her home. She had an excellent sense of style, a fun sense of humor and her independent spirit put her ahead of her times. She lived life with great enthusiasm and on her own terms. She was fond of saying this was a result of her Cherokee/Irish/Welsh heritage.
There will be a graveside service at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 801-466-8687 on Thurs., June 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend.
