- Mr. J. W. Naylor died after an illness of three weeks at his residence in Fayetteville on Thursday afternoon, April 6, 1899, at 5 o'clock, aged 78 years. He was born in Bedord County on August 6, 1820. In 1880, he moved to Fayetteville from Fosterville, Tennessee, and entered the mercantile business, and continued in it until declining years compelled him to retire from the active pursuits of life. As a friend, he was firm and true, and in his family he was kind and thoughtful of every member. The funeral was conducted at the residence Saturday afternoon by Revs. E. M. Harrell and C. W. Johnson. The burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.
