Abigail 'Abby' Lewis was born in Pike County, Kentucky on February 4, 1840. It is said that her mother drowned in some river, although what river and under what circumstances is not certain. One source says that she drowned when she fell off of a gangplank and into the Big Sandy River in West Virginia. Abigail died December 25, 1919 and is buried in Des Arc, Missouri. DES ARC ITEMS
Mrs. Wm. Lewis, 79 years old, who had been sick for a long time, died Thursday night. She was the mother of Jerome, Marion, James, and John Lewis. Her remains are to be buried beside those of her late husband in the Des Arc cemetery.
There were 51 relatives present at Mrs. Lewis' funeral. She had a number of children and grandchildren. (IRON COUNTY REGISTER newspaper... Ironton, Missouri...January 1, 1920)

Mrs. Abbie Johnson Lewis was born on February 4, 1840 in Tennessee. The names of her parents were unknown but her father was also born in Tennessee. Abbie was the widow of William Lewis and was a housewife. The informant was Jerome Lewis. She died in Union Township, Iron County, Missouri on December 25, 1919. She was 79 years, 10 months and 21 days at the time of her death. Dr. N.A. Farr of Des Arc had attended Abby from June 1919 to December 23, 1919. He gave the cause of death as pulmonary abscess. Abbie was buried on December 26, 1919 in the Des Arc Cemetery.
