- Imogene Potts Jackson was born June 15, 1928, at Carter County, Mo., the daughter of Lew Lemard (L.L.) Potts and Lula Belle (Tucker) Potts. She was the youngest of nine children with six sisters and two brothers. She passed away on Jan. 1, 2012, at Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane, Mo., at the age of 83 years.
She was united in marriage to Vibert Melvin Jackson in August of 1947, and prior to his death in February of 2004, they had been married for 56 years. Imogene is preceded in death by her husband Vibert Melvin Jackson; and two sons, Stuart Webster Jackson and Vibert Keith Jackson. She is survived by one sister Laura Newton of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters Jackie Lampkins and husband David of Warsaw, Mo., Teri Null and husband Denny of O'Fallon, Mo., and Tracy Glenn and husband George of Maumelle, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
Early in their marriage Imogene and Vibert were residents of Mountain View, Mo. Vibert was a business owner and Imogene stayed at home with the children. In the 1970s, Imogene became interested in the real estate industry and began a career as a business woman. As the children grew up and left the home, both she and Vibert were in real estate full time.
Imogene enjoyed success in the real estate field and was a very detailed business woman.
Imogene will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mountain View, Mo., with Mike Cronk officiating under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.
