NOTES
George Lewis and wife settled at the mouth of Carver Creek Northwest of Sabula, Missouri sometime between 1850 and 1851. Of their eleven children all but one was born in Tennessee but where is uncertain. Areas reported are Knoxville and or Chattanooga. Its reported they could have crossed the Mississippi at St. Genevieve, No, [This information was given by Mr. Billie J. Lewis, a great-grandson of George Lewis.] (See above 1850 census record to see George was still in Tennessee)
NOTES
Geo. Lewis had brothers David, John, and Jacob that came to Mo. and bought land in Iron County before George's arrival in Iron county. One theory is they are the sons of Nathan Levis of Sullivan Co. North Carolina. George settled in the Sabula Mo. area in 1851. Of their eleven children all but one was born in Tenn.
George Lewis bought land from John and Emiline Lewis , and he died before 1860. (AN IRISH LEGACY-WILLIAM DUNN ... written by Janet Kochevar)
